Christmas Gifts Falling From The Sky Around The World
On the 25th of December, Christmas Day is celebrated around the world with Christmas music, gifts, decorative trees and good spirits. Each country has their own traditions and customs that take place in celebration of Christmas. However, what all countries have in common is the tradition that says people treat each other with kindness during Christmas. Treating others with kindness may be the reason why giving gifts is a tradition that is acknowledged around the world.
The History of Christmas Gifts
Giving gifts on Christmas has been a tradition since the 4th century A.D. This was the time when Santa Clause was known as Saint Nicholas. Even after centuries, people still have difficulties in finding the perfect Christmas gifts for the special people in their life. But, choosing Christmas gifts does not have to be so hard. A gift is a way to show the person you were thinking of them, so when choosing the perfect gift, take their likes and needs into consideration. For example, if searching for the perfect gift for new parents, consider giving a gift that will be beneficial for the parents and the child, such as Christmas songs for children, which may help calm the child.
An Inspiration for Music
For centuries, Christmas has served as an inspiration for stories, art, poems and music. Christmas music varies from popular cheery tunes to regal works of art, such as The Nutcracker and many traditional Christmas songs, especially Christmas songs for children tell a story. The most tradition Christmas music is carols. The early carols were based on folk songs, dance tunes and refrains from ballads. At one time carols were banned (during the Protestant Reformation in England), because during the 1600’s, Puritans felt music associated with Christmas were a Pagan custom. After 1660, when the monarchy was restored, carols returned as a Christmas custom.
Most of the Christmas songs that are sung today originated in the 1800’s. Christmas music such as Joy to the World, Silent Night, Holy Night, Away in a Manager and Hark the Herald Angels Sing are some of the most popular Christmas songs that were written during the 1800’s. Christmas songs for children, such as Here Comes Santa Claus are modern songs, yet have become traditions in many countries. Bells are a common traditional part of Christmas music around the world. On Christmas Eve, cathedral and church bells ring to call families to the church service, they are used as decorations on Christmas trees, wreaths and for many children hearing bells is the sign that Santa is near.
